The Surrey Hills have enthralled and captivated. How restful to have swapped the drama of the British coast for the stillness of these ancient woodlands. There’s something deeply spiritual being immersed among thousands of breathing trees. Yes, trees really do breathe. Whereas we inhale oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide, trees do the opposite. In one year, a mature tree will absorb more than 48 pounds of carbon dioxide and release oxygen in exchange. So this deep connection to trees is more than just spiritual. We dance in an unseen symbiosis. There’s a strong pull to move to Surrey. To spend the rest of my days getting to know these remarkable friends.
