Watering my neighbours' allotment may be the garden gate to a new chapter. The enjoyment and physicality of watering and weeding and watching busy insects is way beyond what it is to paint. Over a few days I swear these courgettes grew two inches and look at that incidental face of soil on the large onion. I had to stop myself from painting these. Why do I need to add to the crazy amount of stuff in this world? Growing food is such a beautiful circular process with no drawbacks. An allotment keeps you fit, feeds butterflies, bugs and bees and gives you sustenance and joy in the process. There's so much to learn. I have already applied for a piece of land to work on. This favour for my neighbours is a source of revelation and re-evaluation
