The next installment! I boiled up the rhubarb leaves, remembering from university that they contain oxalic acid. I hoped they'd work as a toning medium ... and they did! Using the actual plant material to tone a photograph of itself. More excitement as it produced rich velvety blacks. But toning with coffee produces the same richness, so I won't be boiling up poisonous rhubarb leaves in my kitchen again even though the experiment was a success. I'm super happy with the image which appears to me biomorphic, sensual and intriguing. The veins on the leaf remind me of how connected and dependent we are on plants. We're all related. There is no separation. I hope this image in some way conveys our wonderful connectedness
