Realising I have been pretty productive over the past two years but not posting on here. It's uplifting and life-affirming looking back and a confirmatory nod to pick up brushes again. I'm also appreciating how aligned I am with this place and its ever-shifting scenes, atmospheres, light and weather conditions. This painting is egg tempera, size 31 x 41cm. I love Turner's skies, Constable's too. I didn't necessary want to paint like this. It's not abstract enough for me to like it. There's an appreciation of the outcome but the more abstract pieces seem to satisfy something in me. I long to work on a large scale again but am without a studio just now. I need a studio! But there are practicalities to consider. Cost and storage mainly. If every new painting had a buyer and a home to go to, it would be wholly worthwhile but stacks of paintings just sitting there is so depressing. These practical factors keep me working small and there's an enforced tightness that just isn't 'me'. I have bundles of energy and long for huge gestural movement. I'd virtually give the work away just to be able to express the wonders of this place and to work large.
