It’s unusual to see snow and ice on the beaches in the northwest UK. You ask yourself why this particular snake-like ribbon of ice over 100 metres was the only frozen area on the beach. I could only surmise that perhaps the water was fresh from one of the many springs that flow into the sea at Heysham. It seems the only explicable reason. Answers on a postcard!
