Something fascinating today ... I made this painting after looking at Turner's incredible watercolours. When I'd finished it, I realised how much it looks like the Aegean and southwest view of Rhodes. Precisely the view from the small ferry to the Greek island of Halki where my mother has lived for over 40 years. The strangest thing is that this painting was supposed to be the view across Morecambe Bay and yet today of all days, it is very distinctly Greek. And today is my mother's birthday.
