I'd forgotten how the pressure to create something from within is alleviated by having a subject matter right there in front of the eyes. I began this vase of flowers and reached a point with the stems, vase and leaves where I felt to add anything else would be pointless. So I've left this in it's simple beginnings. The flowers were a gift from a dear friend for my birthday and I wanted to remember them forever by painting a watercolour. Perhaps it's a pity not to have painted the flowers but sometimes the imagination is longer lasting than reality
